The Gardens of Wood Street, is a new mural and lighting design, for the area beneath the railway bridge at Wood Street Station - part of Waltham Forest Council's 'Making Places' Initiative.
Following in the tradition of mural-making in London, the new design will be shaped by residents and feature local narratives and images as a representation of Walthamstow’s community and character.
Residents will be invited to participate by contributing diary entries and photographs, sharing what their local community gardens, parks and woodlands mean to them. This collection of stories and images will be interpreted to create an illustration that will be print transferred onto a series of custom shaped vitreous enamel panels to be installed beneath the bridge.
